August 20, 2004 Ms. Pamela Bums City of Miami Department of Purchasing 444 SW 2"d Avenue, 6th Floor Miami, FL 33130 Re: First -In Fire Station Alerting Systems Dear Ms. Burns: To follow up on our discussion, Westnet is the inventor, manufacturer and sole provider of First -In Fire Station Alerting Systems, and holds numerous patent and registered intellectual property rights. Wesmet does not have any authorized dealers or distributors in the state of Florida. The First -In Fire Station Alerting System is unique in that the system is the only system on the market with a Dorm Remote. The Donn Remote provides programmable. company -specific bedside alerting that includes rows of red, energy -efficient LED lighting that reduces the firefighter eyestrain and night blindness which can occur with other lighting systems. This unique lighting system provides for a much safer passage to the apparatus bay. which improves firefighter safety in the fire station. The Dorm Remote also provides firefighters with the ability to program his or her specific assignment information from the front panel of the Dorm Remote, so that only the firefighters needed on the call are awakened. Another feature unique to the First -In Alerting System is a device that analyzes the level of audio in the apparatus bays before the station is alerted. This device solves a long-standing problem of areas with fluctuating ambient noise by automatically adjusting it's volume level so that the firefighters can clearly hear the incoming message from the dispatch center. An important and distinctive feature of the First -In Fire Station Alerting System is a reduction in on - scene response time. The First -In System quickly and automatically provides firefighters with important incident information, such as which vehicles are needed for the call and what type ol'call it is (Le. structure fire, cardiac arrest, etc.). This feature avoids communications errors and allows dispatchers to signal firefighters faster than traditional methods of alerting. The First -In System provides many other unique methods of fire station alerting. If you need more information on these features, please feel free to contact me.
