HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-04-0605City of Miami Legislation Resolution: R-04-0605 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 04-01059 Final Action Date: 9/9/2004 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION REQUESTING THAT THE OFF-STREET PARKING AUTHORITY, IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE ADMINISTRATION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI ("CITY"), DEVELOP A VEHICLE PROTECTION PROGRAM WHEREBY PARKING FACILITIES IN DOWNTOWN MIAMI CAN BE USED BY CITY RESIDENTS ("RESIDENTS") DURING STORM RELATED EVENTS (HURRICANES, TROPICAL STORMS); REQUIRING RESIDENTS TO REGISTER WITH NEIGHBORHOOD ENHANCEMENT TEAM OFFICES; REQUIRING RESIDENTS TO FULLY INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS THE CITY FOR SAID USE; DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, TO IMPLEMENT SAID PROGRAM. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The Off -Street Parking Authority, in conjunction with the Administration of the City of Miami ("City"), is requested to develop a vehicle protection program whereby parking facilities in downtown Miami can be used by City residents ("Residents") during storm related events (hurricanes, tropical storms). Residents would be required to register with Neighborhood Enhancement Team offices and to fully indemnify and hold harmless the City for said use. Section 2. The City Manager is directed to execute the necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, to implement said program. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{1} Footnotes: {1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
