Thompson City Clerk Date: August 13, 2004 Subject: Code Enforcement Board References: September 9, 2004 Agenda Enclosures: List of members The Code Enforcement Board was created to issue orders having the force of law commanding whatever steps are necessary to bring a Code violation into compliance. Florida Statutes Section 162.05(2) requires members of the Code Enforcement Board to be residents of the City of Miami. City Code Section 2-812 states that whenever possible, the board is to consist of an architect, a businessperson, an engineer, a general contractor, a subcontractor, and a realtor. Pursuant to Florida Statutes Section 162(3)(b), all members serve three year terms. Five appointments are needed at this time: • Commissioner Regalado has one nomination for regular seat currently held by Milagros Loyal, who has exceeded the number of absences allowed per City Code. • Vice Chairman Sanchez has one nomination for regular seat currently held by Manuel Chamizo, who has exceeded the number of absences allowed per City Code • *Chairman Teele has one nomination for regular seat currently vacant because James Keane exceeded the number of absences allowed per City Code. • The Commission At -Large has two appointments for alternate seats currently held by John Jones and Anthony Cantey, who have both exceeded the number of absences allowed per City Code. For your convenience, we have included a copy of the current membership of said board. By copy of this memorandum, we are requesting the Agenda Office to place this issue on the September 9, 2004 Commission agenda. *This issue was deferred from the July 8, 2004 Commission meeting.
