The legislation further authorizes the C.ty Manager to accept the funds and to execute the necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney. BACKGROUND There are many planned transportation projects impacting the Overtown Community and the residents have expressed a desire to offer input into the development of these projects. Additionally, there is little public understanding about the need for these projects and the benefits that the community may receive once these projects are constructed. Therefore, the Metropolitan Planning Organization Governing Board, at its October 23, 2003 meeting, requested that the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) initiate a community outreach program. The City and FDOT determined that it would be in the best interest of the general public and the citizens of the City to enter into a Joint Participation Agreement for these services. The attached Agreement provides for the City to contract for an independent expert to provide technical reviews and assessments to the Overtown Community. These services will serve an integral role in supporting the Overtown Community, the State and local governments. The City will administer the contract for services and the FDOT will contribute funds, in the amount of $60,000.00, to the City for these services. The attached resolution accepts said funds and appropriates ti gem into a new special revenue fund entitled "Overtown Technical Support Fund". FISCAL IMPACT This matter has a positive fiscal impact by eliminating the City's contribution for these services in the amount of $60,000.00. JAIAC IMHCIJ CIDEJIJGIcj
