HomeMy WebLinkAboutcover memoTO : FROM : CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM Arriola f Administrator/City Manager DATE: SUBJECT: REFERENCES: ENCLOSURES: AUG 2 j ZUU4 Acquisition of Computer Consulting Services FILE : Recommendation It is respectfully requested that the City Commission approve the attached resolution amending resolution 04-0091 adopted February 26, 2004 to increase the total funding by $500,000 for fiscal year 2003-2004 from $900,000 to a total amount of $1,400,000 and to allow for the addition of Grant and LETF funding sources. Background In February 2004 the City Commission approved resolution 04-0091 authorizing the City Manager to acquire information technology project management services, system integration services, computer programming services, systems analysis services, data base management services, technical support services, and other technical consulting services from IT Consultant Service vendors, piggybacking current, renewal or replacement State of Florida Contracts for the Information Technology Department with funds allocated from ITD Strategic Funds, CIP accounts, or the operating budgets of various departments in the sum of $900,000 for the current fiscal year (fiscal year 2003-04), and from the operating budgets of various departments, CIP accounts, or IT Strategic Funds as may be adjusted from time to time by the City Commission in the Annual Appropriations/ Capital Improvements Ordinances, or as otherwise adjusted as permitted by law for subsequent fiscal years without the need for any further City Commission authorization. Throughout this year the Information Technology Department has made extensive use of this resolution to procure needed assistance for the following strategic initiatives; replacement of the General Ledger Financial / Payroll HR Systems with an ERP System, replacement of the Police & Fire CAD and CARE Systems, migration of mission critical applications from a proprietary computer system to open systems platforms, replacement of the City's Building and Permitting Systems with an integrated Land Management System, development of an enterprise GIS architecture, administration of desktop technology, and upgrade of the City's technology infrastructure with a more secure infrastructure that provides a platform for the deployment of modern technologies especially e-government services. This resolution needs to be amended to provide for additional funding from the UASI (Urban Area Security Initiative Grant Program II) Grant for the acquisition of project management consulting services for the implementation of the new Public Safety CAD and Care Systems for the Police ar YFire Departments, approved at the July 22, 2004 Commission meeting.
