HomeMy WebLinkAboutcover memoCITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM TO : FROM: Honorable Ma bers o he City Commi dorriola C Administrator/City Manager DATE: SUBJECT: REFERENCES: ENCLOSURES: AUG 2 3 2004 FILE : FM-041.doc Amending Resolution No, 04-0296 to increase funding in the amount of $120,000 in carry-over funds RECOMMENDATION It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission amend Resolution No. 04-0296, which establishes a new special revenue fund entitled "Miami -Dade County ("County") Emergency Medical Services ("EMS") Grant #C3013 Award (Fiscal Year 2003-04)," and appropriate grant funds in the amount of $108,476 to include an additional $120,000 in carry-over funds for a total appropriation of $228,476. BACKGROUND The Florida Department of Health is authorized by Chapter 401, Part II, Florida Statutes, to provide grants to boards of county commissioners to improve and expand pre -hospital emergency medical services. Miami -Dade County annually submits the County Grant Application Package, a composite of improvements municipal Fire Departments wish to implement for the pre -hospital Emergency Medical System. The City of Miami was awarded a grant in the amount of $108,476, from the State of Florida Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Services ("EMS"), for the Fiscal Year 2003-04 EMS program. This funding was accepted in the form of Resolution No. 04-0296 which established a Special Revenue Fund entitled: "Miami -Dade County EMS Grant #C3013 Award (Fiscal Year 2003-04)", adopted May 6, 2004. The approved City of Miami FY '2003- 04 Fire -Rescue Projects are the Riskwatch Program - $50,000, EMS Equipment - $157,476, EMS Conferences and Seminars, and Training Sessions - $21,000. To fully serve this purpose, the City of Miami also needs to allocate carry-over funds in the amount of $120,000 from previous grant awards.
