Director Depart rr rfifv1'Economic Development SUBJECT: REFERENCES : ENCLOSURES: C The Department of Economic Development is requesting your approval of payment from salary savings in the amount of $109,000 for the following four (4) purposes: 1. $20,000 as a match for a Miami -Dade Cultural Affairs Grant (for The R eal M iami T ours P roject) for which we were e xpected t o provide a match. These matching funds will be used towards marketing efforts promoting heritage tourism within inner city communities. 2. $10,000 for the purchase of promotional and marketing equipment to more efficiently promotes the City's economic development opportunities, economic development programs and other special projects. 3. $56,000 for fees due to the State in connection with a waiver of deed restriction for Parrot Jungle Island and 4. $23,000 for the City's portion of fees due to the State in connection with a submerged lands lease and waiver of deed restrictions for the Grove Harbor Marina and Caribbean Marketplace Project. As of May 21, 2004, Allocated Positions Listing (APL), the Department of Economic Development has $105,000 salary savings allocated in our EY 2004 budget. If approved, these salary savings will be utilized before the end of the fiscal year 2004. We would appreciate your positive consideration in expediting this request.
