HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-04-0535City of Miami Legislation Resolution: R-04-0535 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 04-00855 Final Action Date: 9/9/2004 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ESTABLISHING A NEW SPECIAL REVENUE FUND ENTITLED: "BULLETPROOF VEST PARTNERSHIP (BVP) GRANT III" AND APPROPRIATING A GRANT AWARD, IN THE AMOUNT OF $5,638.38, FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, OFFICE OF JUSTICE PROGRAMS, BUREAU OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, TO IMPLEMENT ACCEPTANCE OF SAID GRANT. WHEREAS, the United States Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance has approved a grant award in the amount of $5,638.38, for the purpose of saving the lives of law enforcement officers by assisting state, local, and tribal governments to equip their law enforcement officers with armor vests; and WHEREAS, the grant award reimburses up to 50% of the total cost of each vest purchased; and WHEREAS, the body armor must have been tested and found to comply with the National Institute of Justice's standards; and WHEREAS, any purchase would have to comply with applicable City Code purchasing requirements; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The following new Special Revenue Fund is established and resources are appropriated as described below: FUND TITLE: Bulletproof Vest Partnership (BVP) Grant III RESOURCES: United States Department of Justice $5,638.38 APPROPRIATION: Necessary expenses by the Department of $5,638.38 Police for the operation of the Bulletproof Vest Partnership (BVP) Grant III Section 3. The City Manager is authorized{1} to execute the necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, to implement acceptance of said grant. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{2} Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
