A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION INSTRUCTING THE
ADMINISTRATION TO RE -NEGOTIATE THE EXISTING $400,000 ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENT CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF MIAMI AND THE SMALL
BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY CENTER, INC., TO INCLUDE BOTH HOUSING AND
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES IN ITS WORK PROGRAM; FURTHER
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AMENDMENT TO THE
EXISTING AGREEMENT AND A NEW AGREEMENT, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE
ATTACHED FORMS, FOR THE HOUSING ACTIVITIES, IN A TOTAL AMOUNT NOT
TO EXCEED $400,000, OF 28TH YEAR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK
GRANT PROGRAM FUNDS FOR BOTH CONTRACT ACTIVITIES.
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Miami to re -negotiate the contract with Small
Business Opportunity Center, Inc., to include both housing and economic development activities in its
work program;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The Administration is instructed to re -negotiate the existing $400,000 economic
development contract between the City of Miami and the Small Business Opportunity Center, Inc. to
include both Housing and Economic Development Activities in its work program.
Section 2. The City Manager is further authorized {1} to execute an amendment to the existing
agreement and a new Agreement, in substantially the attached forms, for the Housing Activities, in a
total amount not to exceed $400,000 of 28th Year Community Development Block Grant Program
funds for both contract activities.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.{2}
Footnotes:
{1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be
imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter
and Code provisions.
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of (10) calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
