Petro Hydro, Inc.

RECOMMENDATION:
The administration respectfully recommends the adoption of the attached resolution authorizing an
increase to an existing contract with Petro Hydro, Inc. for Road Rehabilitation, Project, B-4651,
awarded by Resolution 03-752 on July 17, 2003. The requested increase of $265,166.16 will allow for
the extension of the existing project along N.W. 35th Street from N.W. 25th Avenue to N.W. 27th
Avenue. The total contract amount will be increased from $737,543.05 to $1,002,709.21.
BACKGROUND:
On July 17, 2003, the City Commission adopted Resolution 03-752 awarding Petro Hydro, Inc. a
contract to furnish all of the labor, materials and equipment and perform all the work for "Road
Rehabilitation Project, B-4651." For this service, the City agreed to pay the Contractor a sum, not to
exceed, $737,543.05.
The approved project is currently under construction and consists of improvements to the right-of-
way along N.W. 35th Street from N.W. 21st Avenue to N.W. 25th Avenue. Further examination of
the areas adjoining the project identified the need for additional road and drainage improvements and
plans and construction documents for the adjacent areas along N.W. 35th Street from N.W. 25th
Avenue to N.W. 27th Avenue.
In order to address the deficiencies in the adjoining area, the Administration recommends that the
existing contract with Petro Hydro, Inc. be increased in an amount, not to exceed, $265,166.16 for
the additional services. The CIP department will also incur an additional $15,333.84 in costs for the
proposed expansion, not to be included to the contract increase, bringing the total amount needed
from Capital Improvements Project ("CIP") No. 341330 to $280,500.00.
FUNDING:
Funds are available from CIP No. 341330 entitled "Transit t/z Cent Surtax" to cover the $265,166.16
for the contract increase and $15,333.84 for the other costs to be incurred by the City for a total
amount of $280,500.00.
