River Drive Freddie: As per your request, we modified the signal timing at S River Dr & NW 17 Ave in the AM & PM Peaks by giving the E/W movement 5 seconds more, reducing that amount from the N/S movement. Thanks Original Message From: Vargas, Freddie Sent: Monday, July 12, 2004 2:34 PM To: 'Williams, Robert (PWD)' Subject: Signal retiming NW 17th Avenue and NW S. River Drive Good afternoon Bob; I hope that everything is going well for you and your family. I have not bother you recently so I think that is time to do so. Page 2 of 2 We have been working on a project in the City of Miami where neighborhood residents have communicated to us that they experience excessive delay exiting their neighborhood at the signalized intersection of NW 17th Avenue and NW S. River Drive. As part of our study we have obtained AM and PM peak hour turning movement counts and analyzed the intersection. Based on the results of our analysis, we believe the signal timing could be modified during the AM peak to provide about 5 additional seconds of green time to the minor street approach (NW S. River Drive) without significantly impacting the major street (NW 17th Avenue). During the PM peak hour, the signal presently operates on an 180' cycle length. We believe the cycle length could be reduced to 90' (double cycle) without significantly impacting the operation of nearby signals. Please advise who we can work with to see if adjusting the signal timing at the subject intersection is feasible. I will be able to provide copies of our analysis to get your opinion.
