Chiaro, Interim City Attorney nr--- DATE: July 2, 2004 P r RE: Commission Directive to Review Approval of the Catalonia Project o a N 0 0 The City Commission directed, at the meeting on June 24, 2004, the City Manager and the City Attorney to review details related to the Catalonia project (Project) to assure that the Project complies with all legal and procedural requirements for permit approval and that if any significant omissions are found, then all necessary steps be taken to rectify the issues or omissions. On June 29, 2004, the following individuals met with the City Attorney's Office to review the approval process for the Project: Alicia Cuervo-Schreiber, Chief of Operations; Ana Gelabert-Sanchez, Director, Planning and Zoning; Javier Carbonell, Acting Zoning Administrator; Stephanie N. Ilclliici;, L ublic a esita i crriandcz, Chief of Hearing Boards; Joyce McPhee, Zoning; Idania Garcia, Chief Building Inspector and other support personnel. After the review of the plans, submittals and approvals, it was the opinion of the assembled group (not including the representative from the Building department) that the permits and approvals were properly issued. The Building Department representative indicated at the meeting that her preliminary re-examination of the plans indicated that the building permit was properly issued, but cautioned that it would require additional time to more thoroughly re -review the plans. Subsequent to the meeting and after a more thorough re -review the Building Director, Hector Lima, determined that the plans were properly reviewed by the certified plan reviewers in his department and the building permit was issued appropriately. cc: Joe Arriola, City Manager Priscilla A.
