A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ESTABLISHING A NEW
SPECIAL REVENUE FUND ENTITLED: "MIAMI FIRE EXPLORERS JUVENILE FIRE
SETTER PROGRAM," AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT NOT TO
EXCEED $1,000, PROVIDED BY DONATION FROM FIREFIGHTERS
CHARITABLE FOUNDATION ("FCF"), A NOT -FOR -PROFIT ORGANIZATION, TO BE
USED EXCLUSIVELY TO COVER COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE CITY OF MIAMI
("CITY") FIRE EXPLORERS JUVENILE FIRE SETTER PREVENTION AND
INTERVENTION PROGRAM TOWARDS SUPPLIES, VISUAL AIDS AND
TRANSPORTATION SERVICES; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT
SAID DONATION AND EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM
ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR SAID PURPOSE.
WHEREAS, in recognition of the seriousness of the City of Miami's ("City") juvenile fire setter
problem, the City's Fire Explorers program has been granted a donation in the amount of $1,000 from
Firefighters Charitable Foundation ("FCF") to be used in support of the City's Fire Explorers Juvenile
Fire Setter Prevention and Intervention Program; and
WHEREAS, FCF is a not -for -profit organization designed to provide much needed financial
assistance to individuals who have been affected by a fire or disaster and to support other charities,
institutions, and volunteer fire departments, as well as providing funding for educational programs on
fire safety and burn prevention, assistance to fire or disaster victims, medical equipment and supplies
and supports other related charitable outreaches whose mission is related to fire assistance,
response, prevention and aid; and
WHEREAS, in an effort to avert juvenile fire setting, the City's Fire Explorers program, in
collaboration with the Parks and Recreation will use said donation exclusively to cover costs
associated with the City's Fire Explorers Juvenile Fire Setter Prevention and Intervention program to
acquire supplies, visual aids and transportation services; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate for the City Manager to accept the donation and to establish a
Special Revenue Fund for the appropriation of said donation;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted
by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.

Section 2. The following new Special Revenue Fund is established and resources are
appropriated as described below:
FUND TITLE: Miami Fire Explorers Juvenile
Fire Setter Program
RESOURCES: Firefighters Charitable Foundation $1,000
a not -for -profit organization
APPROPRIATIONS: Miami Fire Explorers Juvenile $1,000
Fire Setter Program
Section 3. The City Manager is authorized{1} to accept said donation and to execute the
necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, for said purpose.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and
signature of the Mayor.{2}
Footnotes:
{1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be
imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City
Charter and Code provisions.
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall
become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
