HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-04-0345City of Miami Legislation Resolution: R-04-0345 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 04-00473 Final Action Date: 5/27/2004 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ESTABLISHING A NEW SPECIAL REVENUE FUND ENTITLED: "SOUTH FLORIDA HIGH INTENSITY DRUG TRAFFICKING AREA ("HIDTA") CRIME AND DRUG DEMAND REDUCTION PROGRAM VIII" AND APPROPRIATING A GRANT AWARD, IN THE AMOUNT OF $45,000, FROM THE SOUTH FLORIDA HIDTA THROUGH THE MONROE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DESIGNATE THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, IMPLEMENTING ACCEPTANCE OF SAID GRANT. WHEREAS, the Department of Police will implement strategies to reduce drug trafficking and related crime in the specific geographic area of Wynwood; and WHEREAS, the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area ("HIDTA") Crime and Drug Demand Reduction Program through the Monroe County Sheriffs Office has approved an award in the amount of $45,000, to be used to reduce or eliminate factors leading to drug abuse, to nurture and develop indigenous leadership to assist residents in attaining self sufficiency in "at risk" communities; and WHEREAS, no matching funds are required from the City of Miami ("City") as a condition of said grant; and WHEREAS, any purchases would have to comply with applicable City Code purchasing requirements; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The following new Special Revenue Fund is established and resources are appropriated as described below: FUND TITLE: South Florida High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area ("HIDTA") Crime and Drug Demand Reduction Program VIII RESOURCES: Monroe County Sheriff's Office $45,000 APPROPRIATION: Necessary expenses by the Department of City of Miami Page 1 of 2 File Id: 04-00473 (Version: 1) Printed On: 9/14/2016 File Number: 04-00473 Enactment Number: R-04-0345 Police for the operation of the South Florida HIDTA Crime and Drug Demand Reduction Program VIII $45,000 Section 3. The City Manager is authorized{1} to designate the Chief of Police to execute the necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, to implement acceptance of said grant. Section 4. The Department of Police is authorized to expend monies from this new Special Revenue Fund for the operation of said Program. Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{2} Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} This Resolution shall become effective as specified herein unless vetoed by the Mayor within ten days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission or upon the effective date stated herein, whichever is later.
