A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER'S ENGAGEMENT OF METRIC
ENGINEERING, INC. ("ENGINEER"), SELECTED FROM THE LIST OF
PRE -APPROVED GENERAL ENGINEERING FIRMS, APPROVED BY
RESOLUTION NO. 02-144, ADOPTED FEBRUARY 14, 2002, FOR THE DESIGN
DEVELOPMENT, PREPARATION OF BID AND CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS,
AND PERMIT AND CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATION SERVICES RELATED TO
THE "BISCAYNE BOULEVARD CROSS STREETS TWO-WAY CONVERSION
(9TH STREET, 10TH STREET, 11TH STREET) PROJECT, JOB NUMBER
B-33100," IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $136,609, BASED ON: (1) THE
SCOPE OF SERVICES AND SCHEDULE REQUIRED FOR THE PROJECT AND
(2) THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS SET FORTH IN THE AGREEMENT WITH THE
ENGINEER EXECUTED PURSUANT TO RESOLUTION NO. 02-144; AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE WORK ORDER AUTHORIZATION, IN
SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM; ALLOCATING FUNDS, IN AN AMOUNT
NOT TO EXCEED $136,609, FOR SAID PROJECT, FROM CAPITAL
IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NO. 341330 ENTITLED "CITYWIDE TRANSPORTATION
AND TRANSIT."
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") is the owner of the right-of-way located at 9th Street
between Biscayne Boulevard and Northeast 2nd Avenue, 10th Street between Biscayne Boulevard
and Northwest 3rd Avenue, and 11th Street between Biscayne Boulevard and Northeast 2nd Avenue,
Miami, Florida; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to convert each of the above right-of-way segments from
one-way vehicular traffic flow, to two-way vehicular traffic flow ("Project"), which requires capital
improvements and modifications that must be designed by a qualified professional engineer; and
WHEREAS, Metric Engineering, Inc. ("Metric Engineering") is a pre -approved general engineering
firm under Resolution No. 02-144, adopted February 14, 2002, to provide design development,
preparation of bid and construction documents, and permit and construction administration services
to the City on an as -needed basis, and subsequently entered into an agreement with the City dated
May 13, 2002 for that purpose; and
WHEREAS, as a result of the foregoing, Metric Engineering has submitted a proposal to
provide specified engineering services for the Project included in the attached Work Order, which is
based on (1) the scope of services and schedule required for the Project, set forth in the Work Order
Authorization, attached and incorporated, and (2) terms and conditions set forth in the Agreement
with Metric Engineering, Inc., executed pursuant to Resolution No. 02-144;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:

Section 1. The recitals and findings found in the preamble of this resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this section.
Section 2. The City Manager's engagement of Metric Engineering, selected from the list of
pre -approved general engineering firms, approved by Resolution No. 02-144, adopted February 14,
2002, is authorized for the design development, preparation of bid and permit and construction
administration documents, related to the "Biscayne Boulevard Cross Streets Two -Way Conversion
(9th Street, 10th Street, 11th Street), Project B-33100," ("Project"), in an amount not to exceed
$136,609, based on: (1) the scope of services and schedule required for the Project, and (2) the
terms and conditions set forth in the agreement executed with the Engineer pursuant to Resolution
No. 02-144, with funds, in an amount not to exceed $136,609, allocated from Capital Improvements
Project No. 341330 entitled "Citywide Transportation and Transit."
Section 3. The City Manager is authorized{1} to execute the Work Order Authorization, in
substantially the attached form, for said Project.
Section 4. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature
of the Mayor.{2}
Footnotes:
{1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be
imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City
Charter and Code provisions.
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall
become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
