RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution
authorizing the City Manager to execute a Work Order Authorization for Metric Engineering, Inc.
toperform engineering services for the Biscayne Boulevard Cross Streets Two Way Conversion
(9 H Street, 10TH Street, 11TH Street), at a fee not to exceed $136,609, with funds from Capital
Improvements Project Number 341330.
BACKGROUND:
The City Commission adopted Resolution No. 02-144 on February 14, 2002, authorizing the
City Manager to approve six (6) Engineering Firms, including Metric Engineering, Inc., to
provide engineering services. The resolution also gave authority to the City Manager to
negotiate and execute agreements with these firms to provide engineering services. The
Project consists of the two way conversion of N.E. 9th Street and N.E. 11th Street between
Biscayne Boulevard and N.E. 2nd Avenue. 10th Street from Biscayne Boulevard to N.W. 3rd
Avenue will also be converted. Construction of this project includes milling and resurfacing,
signal modifications, addition of signals, roadway reconstruction, and signing and pavement
markings. The City has determined that these improvements will enhance traffic operations in
Downtown Miami.
Metric Engineering, Inc. submitted a proposal to the City to provide professional engineering
services which has been approved and accepted by the Department of Capital Improvement.
These services have been estimated not to exceed $136,609.
A copy of the Metric Engineering, Inc. proposal and Work Order Authorization are attached for
City Commission approval, along with a copy of the original professional services Agreement
with the firm dated May 13th, 2002.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This action will have no fiscal impact on the City as this is a budgeted item in the improvement
program.
