Proposed Ordinance - Accept
And Appropriate FEMA/Hazard
Mitigation Grant Program Funds
For The Property Maintenance
Building Retrofit Project
RECOMMENDATION
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Ordinance accepting
FEMA/Hazard Mitigation Grant Program funds from the Federal Emergency Management Agency
(FEMA) through the State of Florida, Department of Community Affairs, in the amount of $22,930; and
appropriating said funds in the City's Capital Improvement Project No. 311703, entitled: "Property
Maintenance Building Improvements", to be used by the Department of General Services Administration.
BACKGROUND
The City of Miami submitted an application for the Property Maintenance Building Shutter Retrofit
Project to the State of Florida, Department of Community Affairs (DCA), requesting funds to retrofit the
Property Maintenance Building, located at 1975 N.W. 12th Avenue, with hurricane shutters to protect the
occupants and contents in the event of a storm. DCA has advised the City of Miami that FEMA has
approved the obligation of Hazard Mitigation Grant Program funds for this project (FEMA Project No.
1345-0021), in the amount of $22,930 (see Attachment "A" — DCA Contract No. 04HM-M5-11-23-02-
001 — effective through March 30, 2005).
It is now appropriate to accept said grant and appropriate the FEMA grant award therein for this fiscal
year.
Fiscal Impact: None.
