As a native Miamian, I received my education in area public and private schools. After graduating, I chose to remain in Miami. My commitment to this community and compassion for humanity, coupled with a respect for legal authority and the Criminal Justice System has led me to believe that I am fully qualified to serve on this panel..I come from a humble beginning in western Dade County and amcognizant of the importance of police -community relations. Attending a multiethnic high school, matriculating at public and private universities and working for Miami Dade Community Action Agency (CAA) as a Team Manager has fueled my "pulse" for this community. In my role, I encounter various social problems and develop case management action plans for our customers. My interest and involvement in the community have led me to be appointed as a board member of the Miami -Dade Weed and Seed. This organization's goal is to `weed" out crime and "seed" the community with positive resources. It requires building partnerships among the community residents and police, prosecutors, government officials, local businesses, social service providers, and the private sector. Additionally. I am the immediate past chairperson of the Social Action Committee, for Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., a certified Kingian Non -Violence Trainer through the Florida Martin Luther King Institute for Non. -Violence, and a member of the National Council for Family Relations. My life experiences, educational backgroundin public administration, criminal justice, and child, youth, and family studies has prepared me for membership on the Civilian Investigative Panel. 04/20/2004 21:37 3055792436 CIVILIAN INVESTIGATE PAGE 05 #7 As a member of this community, a service provider, and a leader, I feel compelled to help carry out the mission of the CIP. I believe that the CIP is an objective and honest forum where major challenges can be overcome. It gives voice to those who would not otherwise be heard. The panel promotes fairness, justice and accountability. • Additionally, it enhances the police -community relationship in a positive manner. I desire to be a part and contribute to a committee that is on the cutting edge of improving the climate of the community. For these reasons, l wish to be a member of the CIP. 04/20/2004 21:37 3055792436 CIVILIAN INVESTIGATE PAGE 06 BIOGRAPHY Dr. Tangier Scott has been employed with Miami -Dade County Community Action Agency for the past eleven years.
