HomeMy WebLinkAboutcover memoCITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA ,c2,,.=./-60fl.3 INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM TO : FROM : Honorable yor and Mber of the City Commission Jo A riola C ief dministrator/City Manager DATE : APR3 FILE : FM-022.doc SUBJECT: REFERENCES: Establish Special Revenue Fund "Miami -Dade County EMS Grant #C3013 Award (FY 2003-04)" ENCLOSURES: Resolution RECOMMENDATION It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution establishing a new special revenue fund entitled "Miami -Dade County EMS Grant #C3013 Award (FY 2003-04)", and appropriating funds in the amount of $108,476. The funds consist of a pass through grant from the State of Florida Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services ("EMS") and apportioned by Miami -Dade County. It is also appropriate to authorize the City Manager to accept said grant funds and to execute the necessary documents for this purpose. BACKGROUND The Florida Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services ("EMS") is authorized by Chapter 401, Part II, Florida Statutes, to dispense grant funds to boards of county commissioners to improve and expand pre -hospital EMS systems within their county. Annually, Miami -Dade County submits the County Grant Application Package, a composite of improvements municipal Fire Departments wish to implement for the pre - hospital Emergency Medical System. This year the new grant revenue amount awarded to the City of Miami is $108,476 for fiscal year 2003-04 EMS Program. The approved City of Miami EMS projects are as follows: (1) Riskwatch Program, (2) EMS Equipment, (3) EMS Conferences, Seminars and Training Sessions.
