LEGAL DESCRIPTION N/A. PETITION Consideration of amending Ordinance No. 11000, of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Miami, Florida, by amending Article 6, Special Districts, in order to amend Sec. 609. SD-9 Biscayne Boulevard North Overlay District to modify special district requirements, including requirements related to height, setback and footprint limitations and to incorporate certain design standards and guidelines and to amend Sec 608, SD-8 Miami Design District in order to modify regulations for properties within the district that have frontage on Biscayne Boulevard. PLANNING RECOMMENDATION Approval. BACKGROUND AND ANALYSIS The proposed amendment is in order to enact a series of amendments for the North Biscayne Boulevard Corridor to protect and enhance it's major gateway role into the City of Miami and to protect the low density and single family residential neighborhoods that abut Biscayne Boulevard from approximately NW 36th Street to the City Limits. These amendments enact height limitations while relaxing footprint and setback limitations to promote a lower density more pedestrian friendly Boulevard. The amendment also incorporates design standards and guidelines by reference in order to guide new development that further enhances and protects the quality of Biscayne Boulevard. PLANNING ADVISORY BOARD Recommended approval with VOTE: 5-3 conditions to City Commission.
