NORIEGA, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUPPORTING THE UNITED STATES AGENCY FOR INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT'S BUREAU FOR LATIN AMERICAAND THE CARIBBEAN, TO PROVIDE FULL FINANCIAL AND TECHNICAL CITY OF MIAMI SERVICES SUPPORT (POLICE, FIRE, SOLID WASTE AND OTHER RELATED DEPARTMENTS), FOR THE CONSULTATIVE CONFERENCE ON THE REBUILDING OF HAITI, SCHEDULED FOR MAY 2004; FURTHER ASKING THAT THE CITY MANAGER IDENTIFY FACILITIES AND FUNDING SOURCES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO, ANY ACTIVITIES PREVIOUSLY DESIGNATED FOR SPECIAL SUPPORT OF THE HAITIAN COMMUNITY; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PROVIDE "IN KIND" PERSONNEL, VENUES AND PROTOCOL SUPPORT FOR THE ONE (1) DAY CONFERENCE; FURTHER ASKING THE CITY MANAGER TO DIRECTLY CONTACT THE ASSISTANT SECRETARY OF STATE , THE HONORABLE ROGER F. NORIEGA, THROUGH HIS SENIOR POLICY ADVISOR DIBENIGNO. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The City Manager is directed to work with the United States Assistant Secretary of State, for the Western Hemisphere ("U.S. Assistant Secretary of State"), the Honorable Roger F. Noriega, for the purpose of supporting the United States Agency for International Development's Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean, to provide full financial and technical City of Miami services support (Police, Fire, Solid Waste and other related departments), for the Consultative Conference on the Rebuilding of Haiti, scheduled for May 2004. Section 2. The City Manager is further asked to identify facilities and funding sources, including but not limited to, any activities previously designated for special support of the Haitian community. Section 3. The City Manager is further authorized{1} to provide "in -kind" personnel, venues and protocol support for the one (1) day Conference. Section 4. The City Manager is further asked to directly contact the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State, the Honorable Roger F. Noriega, through his Senior Policy Advisor Dibenigno. Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor. {2} Footnotes: City of Miami Page 1 of 2 File Id: 04-00457 (Version: 11 Printed On: 9/8/2016 File Number: 04-00457 Enactment Number: R-04-0282 {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
