Resolution Appropriating

Development
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution
establishing a new special revenue fund entitled "BAME/Gibson Park Improvement Fund"
and accepting a donation in the amount of $100,000 from GAME Development
Corporation of South Florida, Inc. for improvements to the Gibson Park football field
facilities completed by the City as a result of a grant award to BAME from the NFL
Community Football Fields Program and authorizing the City Manager to accept said
donation.
BACKGROUND:
The Department of Parks and Recreation is requesting the establishment of a new special
revenue fund, in the amount of $100,000 and appropriating the same from a donation by
the BAME Development Corporation of South Florida, Inc. (BAME). BAME is a non-
profit organization designed to promote the development of low income and elderly
housing projects.
BAME applied for a grant from the NFL 2000 Community Football Fields Program to help
provide capital improvement to the football field facilities at Gibson Park in which the City
was to provide a match. The grant award was provided to the City to implement a wide
range of improvements to the football facilities. The City has provided invoices to BAME
totaling $264,500 as proof of the City's improvements to the football field facilities.

BAME is now ready to submit funds to the City in the amount of $100,000 received from
the NFL 2000 Community Football Fields Program, which is suppose to be used for the
improvements to the Gibson Park football field facilities already completed by the City.
Accordingly, the attached Resolution authorizes the City Manager to accept the donation of
the $100,000 from BAME and formally appropriated the same.
FISCAL IMPACT: None/donation — the City has already expended funds on the
capital improvements completed by the City. This is a donation to off set $100,000
worth of City expenditures.
