HomeMy WebLinkAboutcover memoCITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM TO : FROM : The Honorable ayor. and Members APR 7 2004 DATE: 0 e City Co mission i Jorriola Ch e Administrator/City Manager FILE : SUBJECT : Resolution on renewal of TruSecure Enterprise Service REFERENCES: ENCLOSURES: KF:COMMINUA'I'ION: It is respectfully requested that the City Commission approve the attached resolution authorizing the City Manager to acquire the TruSecure Enterprise Service to assist in the identification and mitigation of risks to the City's critical Information Technology assets, at an initial one (1) year cost not to exceed $78,795, from the TruSecure Corporation (non-local/non-minority), 13650 Dulles Technology Dr. Suite 500 Herndon, Virginia 20171, under the State of Florida Contract number 974-176-04-1, effective through July 14, 200, subject to extensions or replacement contracts by the State of Florida, with the option to renew this service for three (3) additional one (1) year periods with annual price increases limited to no more than 4% per year. Funds are hereby allocated from General Fund Account Code no. 001000.460101.6.670. BACKGROUND: The Information Technology Department engaged TruSecure Enterprise Service during August 2002 with the purpose of addressing the rising cyber threats posed by cyber-terrorism, Internet worms, and unethical practices such as hacking, etc; which could compromise the integrity and availability of services and resources provided by the Information Technology Department to the City of Miami. The advisory services secured through TruSecure have helped the City of Miami reduce potential risks and proactively mitigate the possible affects of the increasing number of cyber threats which have affected other businesses and governmental entities. TruSecure is an annualized service that provides consultancy services for the development, implementation and monitoring of essential security practices necessary to protect the City's IT infrastructure. The continued used of these services will assist the City in securing its IT infrastructure and sensitive enterprise data from hacker attacks, viruses and other cyber and physical threats by providing: a comprehensive enterprise security policy template, 365 day/24 hour support from a professional security support team, periodic internal and external network scans and assessments, and implementation recommendations for essential security practices. The City of Miami is continuing to move forward with major IT Strategic Initiatives and will greatly benefit by continuing to partner with TruSecure Corporation.
