City of Miami Department of Parks And Recreation Sponsors
Summer Food Service Program For Children
The City of Miami Parks And Recreation Department is once again will be
participating in the Summer Food Service Program for Children during the months
June 14, 2004 to August 6, 2004 at designated City parks. This program is made
possible through a grant from the State of Florida Department of Education, Food
and Nutrition Management Division.
Similar to the National School Lunch Program, the Summer Food Program, Food for
Children provides balanced meals to needy children, regardless of race, color, creed,
sex, age, national origin or disability.
Meals are offered during the summer vacation, when regular lunches are not
available. All youths through 18 years of age, including those enrolled in the Parks
Department's Summer Program, are eligible for free lunch and an afternoon
supplement.
