RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT A GRANT, IN
THE AMOUNT OF $8,500,000, FROM THE UNITED STATES
DEPARTMENT OF STATE, BUREAU OF DIPLOMATIC
SECURITY, AND ESTABLISHING A NEW REVENUE PROJECT
FOR THE CITY OF MIAMI TO REIMBURSE THE CITY OF
MIAMI/MIAMI POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR THE PROVISION OF
EXTRAORDINARY PROTECTIVE SERVICES FOR THE 2003
FREE TRADE AREA OF THE AMERICAS SUMMIT WHICH WAS
HELD IN MIAMI, FL FROM NOVEMBER 17 TO NOVEMBER 21,
2003; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM
ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, TO ACCEPT THE
AFORESAID GRANT.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to accept a grant in the amount of
$8,500,000 from the United States Department of State, Bureau of Diplomatic Security to
reimburse the City of Miami/Miami Police Department for the provision of extraordinary
protective services for the 2003 Free Trade Area of the Americas Summit which was held in
Miami, FL from November 17 to November 21, 2003.
Section 2. The City Manager is authorized''-f to execute all necessary documents, in
a form acceptable to the City Attorney, to accept the aforesaid grant.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and
signature of the Mayor.z/
'f The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may
be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by
applicable City Charter and Code provisions.
z/ If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten
calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this
Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City
Commission.
