rates & conditions for the use
of the Orange Bowl Stadium by
United States Soccer Federation,
Inc.
Recommendation:
It is respectfully recommended the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution establishing
special rates and conditions for the use of the Orange Bowl Stadium by the United States
Soccer Federation, Inc.
Background:
The Department of Conferences, Conventions & Public Facilities seeks to enter into a Use
Agreement with the United States Soccer Federation, Inc. to host a soccer match between the
United States and Haiti to be held on March 13, 2004.
The Department of Conferences, Conventions, and Public Facilities recommends the following
special rates and conditions be approved:
1. Use Fee to be capped at $5,000 versus the 10% of gross ticket sales established in
the City Code.
2. City shall permit the promoter to utilize a maximum of 1500 total number of tickets
for the event, which shall be authorized as complimentary tickets for promotional
purposes.
The event organizers will pay for all necessary costs of City services and applicable fees
associated with the event. This event is expected to produce net revenues to the City in excess
of $80,000 which includes revenues derived from the Use Fee, Ticket Surcharge, Concessions,
and Parking.
The event is expected to generate an economic impact to our community resulting from
international travel, hotel occupancy, restaurants and other commerce.
