Backiround The City of Miami's Information Technology Department is presently implementing several strategic initiatives; specifically the replacement of the General Ledger Financial / Payroll HR Systems (ERP), the replacement of the Police & Fire CAD and CARE Systems, the migration of mission critical applications from a proprietary computer system to open systems platforms, the replacement of the City's Building and Permitting Systems with an integrated Land Management System, and the upgrade of the City's technology infrastructure with a more secure infrastructure that provides a platform for the deployment of modern technologies especially e-government services. In order to implement these initiatives and continue to support all ongoing IT operations with a minimum interruption in services adequate IT staffing must be acquired with the specific technical skills that would not be cost effective to hire on a full time basis. For this reason, the Information Technology Department is seeking your approval to acquire needed technical services on an as -needed basis in an expeditious and flexible manner, By having a large pool of competitive consulting contracts available from which to select staff, the City can expect to obtain better qualified individuals quickly to fulfill project -driven staffing requirements so that IT is better positioned to respond effectively and efficiently to the needs of the City. All documents to be executed by the City Manager will be standard City issued purchase orders, work authorizations, or otherwise subject to being approved as to form by the City Attorney. JA::NMG:nmg
