missing Sunday, a day after he
vanished in choppy surf dur-
ing a swim off Singer Island,
the U.S. Coast Guard said.
The Coast Guard sus-
pended its search for William
Daqdzie, of West Palm Beach,
late Saturday night, Petty Offi-
cer Anastasia Burns said.
If it is determined that he
died, Daqdzie would be the
third drowning victim in Palm
Beach County during a week
of gusts and rip currents.

claimed the lives of an 82-
year-old woman near Singer
Island and a 48-year-old attor-

Chamber of Commerce, says
many in the business commu-
nity have had enough.
"The right way to have this
system work is to elect a Leg-
islature that does its jobs cor-
rectly," he said. "These
efforts to go around the Legis-
lature are like an end run
around the board of directors.
It's an affront to the integrity
of our democratic system."
But supporters of citizen
initiatives say that by restrict-
ing the way the state Consti-
tution can be changed, busi-
ness groups are being
short-sighted: If the tide ever
turns and the Republican -led,
business -friendly Legislature
is replaced by a group that is
less responsive to business
needs, it would be more diffi-
cult for businesses to initiate
amendments to the Constitu-
tion.

Man, 28,
missing
off island
RIVIERA BEACH — (AP)
- A 28-year-old man was
missing Sunday, a day after he
vanished in choppy surf dur-
ing a swim off Singer Island,
the U.S. Coast Guard said.
The Coast Guard sus-
pended its search for William
Daqdzie, of West Palm Beach,
late Saturday night, Petty Offi-
cer Anastasia Burns said.
If it is determined that he
died, Daqdzie would be the
third drowning victim in Palm
Beach County during a week
of gusts and rip currents.
Last week, rip currents
claimed the lives of an 82-
year-old woman near Singer
Island and a 48-year-old attor-
ney trying to save his nieces
off Palm Beach. The girls sur-
vived.
