A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE
CONTINUED ENGAGEMENT OF BOND COUNSEL TO PROVIDE BOND
COUNSEL SERVICES, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $35,000, PLUS
COSTS AS APPROVED BY THE CITY ATTORNEY, IN CONNECTION WITH THE
DISBURSEMENT OF FUNDS FROM GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI FOR HOMELAND SECURITY, NEIGHBORHOOD
IMPROVEMENTS, CAPITAL PROJECTS AND INFRASTRUCTURE
IMPROVEMENTS, ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM THE HOMELAND DEFENSE
BONDS, ACCOUNT CODE NO. 331419, FOR SAID SERVICES.
WHEREAS, legal questions in connection with the disbursement of funds from Homeland
Security bond proceeds often require a response from Bond Counsel, Squire, Sanders &
Dempsey, LLP; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami's Homeland Defense Board has approved the expenditure of
funds for Bond Counsel Services in an amount not to exceed $35,000;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted
by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The continued engagement of bond counsel is authorized to provide bond counsel
services, in an amount not to exceed $35,000, plus costs as approved by the City Attorney, in
connection with the disbursement of funds from the General Obligation Bonds of the City of Miami
for Homeland Security, Neighborhood Improvements, Capital Projects and Infrastructure
Improvements, funds allocated from the Homeland Defense Bonds Account, Code No. 331419, for
said services.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature
of the Mayor.{1}
Footnotes:
{1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall
become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
