The Performing Arts Center Trust (PACT) was created to provide a broad source of community
support for the Performing Arts Center. It is a 24 member board with three representatives from
the City of Miami and representatives from Miami -Dade County, Miami Beach, the Greater Miami
Opera, the Florida Philharmonic Orchestra, the New World Symphony Orchestra, the Miami City
Ballet, the Concert Association of Florida, an African -American artistic organization and a
Hispanic -American artistic organization.
Appointments to the PACT are made from a list of nominations submitted by PACT. Nominations
to the PACT nominating committee are to include a brief resume giving biographical data, past and
present interest in cultural activities, and reason for nomination.
• The Commission at -large has one appointment to make for seat currently held by Fred
Joseph, whose term expired on December 31, 2001 and due to his length of service cannot be
reappointed. The PACT has submitted the following nominees for appointment:
1. Ricky Arriola
2. Andrew Korge
3. Arthur Halleran
For your convenience, we are including a copy of related excerpts from the PACT's Articles of
Incorporation that outline the appointment process, a copy of each nominee's resume, as well as a
copy of the current City of Miami membership of said Trust. By copy of this memorandum, we are
requesting the Agenda Office to place this issue on the December 11, 2003 Commission agenda.
This matter was deferred from the November 13, 2003 Commission meeting.
