ENCLOSURES: Three (3) Documents
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution
extending the term of the Contract between the City of Miami and Morlic Engineering Corp.
for Thirty (30) additional calendar days and increasing the maximum compensation in an
estimated of $300,000 for the Project entitled "Road Rehabilitation Project, B-4652"
BACKGROUND:
"Road Rehabilitation Project", 8-4652 is a FEMA funded project, located in District 1 and
awarded to contractor "Morlic Engineering Corp." by Resolution No. 03-860 dated July 24,
2003.
Road Rehabilitation Project, B-4652 consists of removing the asphalt, reworking the existing
limerock base, constructing a new asphalt base course and limited drainage improvements.
This project is currently under construction.
Due to unexpected conditions, in some locations, the existing limerock base has 0 — 8
inches -thick instead the 8 inches -thick required by City standards. As a result of this finding,
the existing limerock base needs to be removed and a new base must be constructed in
order to accomplish the proposed work. Additionally, Geotechnical tests could be required.
In order to complete the additional scope of work, an increase to the existing contract in the
estimated amount of $300,000 and an extension of 30 additional calendar days are
necessary. Funding has been identified from CIP Account No. 313855 entitled "October
2000 Flood Recovery".
