Thompson City Clerk Date: October 17, 2003 Subject: Coconut Grove Special Events and Marketing Committee References November 13, 2003 Agenda Enclosures List of members The Coconut Grove Special Events and Marketing Committee was created to make recommendations to the City Commission concerning the expenditure of the Coconut Grove Special Events District Fund and to provide reports regarding approval of special event applications in the district. ► One member shall be an officer of the Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau, designated by the Bureau; ► One member shall be a representative of the Coconut Grove Chamber of Commerce, designated by the Chamber; ► One member shall be the Executive Director of the Department of Off -Street Parking; ► Five members shall be appointed by the City Commission at large; ► One member shall be appointed by the Mayor; and ► One City Commissioner shall be a voting member who may be designated by the City Commission as the Committee's chairperson. In the event that the City Commissioner appointed to the Committee is unable to serve then the City Commission shall appoint a replacement member at -large. If the chairperson is not the City Commissioner appointee designated by the City Commission, the Committee shall select a chairperson from among its members and may create and fill such other offices as it may determine. Please be aware that City Code Section 54-342(c) reads in part: "Members of the Committee appointed by the Mayor and the City Commission shall reside, own real property or have his principal place of business in the Coconut Grove area..." (Emphasis added) The Commission At -large has one appointment for seats currently vacant because James Flanigan resigned. For your convenience, we are including a copy of the current membership of said committee. By copy of this memorandum, we are requesting the Agenda Office to place this issue on the November 13, 2003 agenda. This matter was deferred from the May 8, 2003, July 24, 2003 and September 11, 2003 Commission meetings.
