Recommendation
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution supporting
the petition submitted to the Miami -Dade County Commission by Biscayne Development Partners,
LLC ("Petitioner") for the creation of the Midtown Miami Community Development District
("District") for the approximate 56 acre site, ("site") bounded on the north by NE 36th street, on the
west by the Florida East Coast Railway right-of-way, on the south by NE 29th street and on the east
by N. Miami Avenue, with the exception of a parcel of less than one acre at the southeast corner of
the site.
Background
On June 13, 2002, the City Commission adopted the "FEC Railway Corridor Strategic Plan" (Plan)
as a guiding tool for the redevelopment of the FEC Corridor. Said Plan specifically addressed the
redevelopment of the 56-acre parcel known as the Buena Vista Yard as a potential catalyst for
revitalization of the area. The City of Miami is desirous of fostering the revitalization of the FEC
Corridor and the Buena Vista site located therein, by providing support for the petition submitted by
Biscayne Development Partners, LLC for the creation of the Midtown Miami Community
Development District.
Fiscal Impact
Support of the petition submitted to the Miami -Dade County Commission to create the Midtown
Miami Community Development District will have no fiscal impact on the City's Budget.
