Ratification of Emergency Action
For Watson Island Boat Ramp
Lighting Project -Increase to P.O.
231785
For Commission Meeting of
October 9, 2003
RECOMMENDATION
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution by a 4/5`1'
affirmative vote, ratifying, approving and confirming the City Manager's finding and recommendation to
proceed on an emergency basis to increase the existing Purchase Order number 231785 in the amount not
to exceed $10,000.00 (ten thousand dollars) as a cash allowance item for the project entitled "Watson
Island Boat Ramp Lighting Project."
BACKGROUND
On November 29, 2001, the City Commission adopted Resolution No. 01-1321 ratifying, approving and
confirming the City Manager's finding and recommendation to accept the low bid of Gancedo
Technologies, Inc., in the amount of $68,972.00 total proposed bid.
As a result of island infrastructure improvements, the Watson Island Boat Ramp Lighting Project was
delayed until construction commencement in June 2003. The original contract with Gancedo
Technologies, Inc. for $68,972.00 did not include a customary cash allowance contingency line item for
unforeseeable construction conditions. During construction, Gancedo Technologies, Inc. submitted
change order letters for unforeseen additional work which was verified by staff from the Department of
Economic Development.
Attached please find a memo dated August 5, 2003 with approval from the Department of Capital
Improvements and from the City Manager for the increase to Purchase Order number 231785 in the
amount not to exceed $10,000.00 (ten thousand dollars). Funds are available under CIP Project No,
333126, Account No. 669301.6.860.
