HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-10-0461Vop City of Miami F .. 19611F A111 *'Ir Legislation i 0 R �O Resolution: R-10-0461 File Number: 10-01183 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com Final Action Date: 10/14/2010 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 09-0223, ADOPTED MAY 14, 2009, IN ITS ENTIRETY; ESTABLISHING A NEW SPECIAL REVENUE PROJECT ENTITLED: "VIRGINIA KEY SECTION 1135 ECOSYSTEM RESTORATION PROJECT" AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS, CONSISTING OF A GRANT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF THE ARMY, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $1,500,000, FOR THE ECOSYSTEM RESTORATION OF VIRGINIA KEY, MIAMI, FLORIDA; AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF MIAMI'S REQUIRED MATCHING FUNDS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $124,729, FROM HOMELAND DEFENSE SERIES 2 FUNDS, AND IN-KIND SERVICES IN THE AMOUNT OF $295,000 FROM THE VIRGINIA KEY BEACH TRUST AND DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION FOR A TOTAL OF $419,729; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN ORDER TO IMPLEMENT THE ACCEPTANCE OF SAID GRANT AWARD. WHEREAS, on July 22, 2010, the City of Miami ("City") adopted the Virginia Key Master Plan that provides policies for the use, development, and management of the Virginia Key land and the protection and enhancement of the island's natural resources while providing the necessary infrastructure to serve future improvements; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 09-0223, adopted May 14, 2009, the City accepted a grant award from the Department of the Army for the design and construction of the Virginia Key Section 1135 Ecosystem Restoration Project ("Project"), in the amount not to exceed $1,500,000; and WHEREAS, subsequently, the Department of the Army notified the City that its required match amount had to change due to revised calculations for in-kind services as allowable pre -agreement planning and design costs; and WHEREAS, this Resolution rescinds Resolution No. 09-0223 in its entirety; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The following new Special Revenue Project is established and resources are appropriated as described below: FUND TITLE: Virginia Key Section 1135 Ecosystem Restoration Project RESOURCES: Department of the Army $1,500,000 City of Miand Page 1 of 2 File Id. 10-01183 (Version: 2) Printed On: 8/10/2017 File Number: 10-01183 Enactment Number: R-10-0461 City of Miami's required matching funds -Homeland Defense Series 2 (# B-30174, Award #1378) ($124,729) In -Kind Services ($295,000) APPROPRIATIONS: Virginia Key Section 1135 Ecosystem Restoration and Project $1,500,000 Section 3. The City Manager is authorized{1 } to execute the necessary documents, in order to implement the acceptance of said grant award. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{2} Footnotes: {1 } The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
