HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-10-0444Vop City of Miami F .. 19611F A111 *'Ir Legislation !,0 R �O Resolution: R-10-0444 File Number: 10-01185 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com Final Action Date: 10/14/2010 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ESTABLISHING A NEW SPECIAL REVENUE PROJECT ENTITLED "BROWNFIELDS ASSESSMENT AND CLEANUP SHAMROCK SITE" AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS, CONSISTING OF A GRANT FROM THE UNITED STATES ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $200,000, FOR A THREE-YEAR PERIOD; AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF MIAMI'S REQUIRED MATCH OF $40,000, IN THE FORM OF IN-KIND SERVICES; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS AND PROFESSIONAL SERVICE AGREEMENTS TO IMPLEMENT THE ACCEPTANCE OF SAID GRANT AWARD. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has a strong interest in promoting environmental justice and economic revitalization for its residents; and WHEREAS, the City submitted a grant application to United States Environmental Protection Agency ("EPA") to provide funding for clean-up of petroleum contaminants at the former Shamrock Gas Station and activities to promote redevelopment of the property such that future reuse of the property will create or retain jobs and does not pose a threat to human health and the environment ("Project"); and WHEREAS, on August 19, 2010, the City was noticed that the Project was approved and awarded a grant to the City; and WHEREAS, the City was awarded $200,000 for a period of three (3) years from EPA to provide activities related to the Project; and WHEREAS, the City will match this award with in-kind services in the amount of $40,000 in staff time; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is authorized {1} to execute the necessary documents to implement the acceptance of said grant award. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{2} Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
