(3'I-dl� District Impacted: ALL Matter ID'No. Type: ® Resolution ❑ Ordinance ❑ Emergency Ordinance ❑ Discussion Item ❑ Other Subject: FY 10 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Purpose of Item: It is recommended that the Miami City Commission adopt the attached Resolution establishing a new Special Revenue Project entitled: " Fiscal Year 2010 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program," consisting of a grant award from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance, in the amount of $570,208, to provide funding for technology acquisition and equipment improvement; authorizing the City Manager to execute the grant agreement, in substantially the attached form, and any other documents in order to implement the acceptance and administration of said grant award. nformation: In response to the JAG 2010 local solicitation announcement, the City of Miami submitted a grant application to the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs to obtain funding for technology acquisition and equipment improvement. Specific purchases will include laptops, docking stations, software, and fingerprinting readers. The technology acquisition and equipment improvement will expand and improve the operations of the Miami Police Department by enabling it to provide better services to the City of Miami's residents and visitors. This grant is awarded for a period of four years, beginning October 1, 2009, through September 30, 2013. This award does not require any local match.
