HomeMy WebLinkAboutFR/SR LegislationFite Number: 10-00933 Final Action Date: AN ORDINANCE OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION DEFINING AND DESIGNATING THE TERRITORIAL LIMITS FOR THE CITY OF MIAMI FOR THE PURPOSE OF TAXATION; FIXING THE MILLAGE AND LEVYING TAXES IN THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING OCTOBER 1, 2010 AND ENDING SEPTEMBER 30, 2011; CONTAINING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Miami -Dade County Property Appraiser estimates that the non-exempt valuation of taxable property, both real and personal in the City of Miami, Florida, for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2010 and ending September 30, 2011, is $31,466,457,890; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Ordinance are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. For the purpose of this Ordinance, the "City of Miami" is defined to be, includes and designates the City of Miami as it now exists with its territorial limits. Section 3. There shall be and hereby are levied upon the non-exempt assessed value of all property, both real and personal, in the City of Miami as described in Section 2 hereof, taxes at the rate reflected below for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2010 and ending September 30, 2011, for the following purposes: A tax of $7.6740 for every one thousand dollars of assessed property for the General Operating Budget. A tax of $0.9701 for every one thousand dollars of assessed property to provide fo the payment of maturing principal and interest, and charges and requirements related thereto of voter approved indebtedness. Section 4. This proposed millage rate herein adopted is lower than the "rolled back" rate by 11.95%. Section 5. If any section, part of this section, paragraph, clause, phrase or word of this Ordinance is declared invalid, the remaining provisions of this Ordinance shall not be affected. Section 6.
