Director chief city Manager Ge xh 1 t h Subject: Ordinance for the increase of fees associated with the use of the Miami Marine Stadium parking lot. Background Information: Section 53-53 of the Code of the city of Miami ("City") provides for the "Rental rates and associated charges and conditions" of Marine Stadium. The existing Code of the City ("City Code") allows use of the Marine Stadium parking lot for a flat fee, payable in advance, of $1,050.00 per day or portion thereof. This flat fee does not include event costs such as electricity used, security, electricians, cleanup, police department personnel required for traffic control and crowd control, etc., which is paid by the user. Due to the City's current and future financial situation, the current flat fee may represent less potential revenue to the City. Moreover, based on revenues from fiscal year 2009 events of $16,483.07, and this fiscal year's revenues of $12,883.00, the City has projected revenues of $25,766.00 for fiscal year 2011 due to this increase in fee. Therefore, it is in the City's best interest to ensure that any future requests by users of the Marine Stadium parking lot pay an increased flat fee, which will be either the greater of $2,000.00 per day or $15.00 per square foot or portion thereof commencing immediately upon adoption. The City Commission, after consideration to this matter deems it in the best interest of the City of Miami to amend the Code of the City of Miami, Florida to include City Commission procedures for consideration and affirmation of such proposals.
