HomeMy WebLinkAboutLEGISLATIONFile Number: 10-00991 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AMENDMENT NO. 2 TO THE PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH REYNOLDS, SMITH & HILLS, INC., IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, FOR THE PROVISION OF MISCELLANEOUS CIVIL ENGINEERING SERVICES, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $500,000, THEREBY INCREASING THE TOTAL CONTRACT AMOUNT FROM $1,000,0000, TO AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $1,500,000; ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM THE APPROPRIATE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT. WHEREAS, on March 28, 2008, pursuant to Request for Qualifications No. 06-07-019, the City of Miami ("City") executed a Professional Services Agreement ("Agreement") with Reynolds, Smith & Hills, Inc. ("Reynolds Smith"), for the provision of Miscellaneous Civil Engineering Services in an amount not to exceed $500,000; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 08-0696, adopted December 11, 2008, the City Commission approved Amendment No. 1, increasing the Agreement expenditure limit in an amount not to exceed $500,000, from an original amount not to exceed $500,000 to a total contract amount not to exceed $1,000,000; and WHEREAS, over the course of the contract, Reynolds Smith has provided high quality work for various projects for the Department of Capital Improvements Program ("CIP"); and WHEREAS, Reynolds Smith has been tasked with providing comprehensive design services for the Coconut Grove Business Improvement District Project, B-30687 ("Project"); and WHEREAS, in the interest of continuity of work, and in consideration of the quality of work performed,-CIP recommends increasing the current capacity -of said firm to complete the Project;-and- WHEREAS, roject; and_ WHEREAS, the current remaining contract balance is not sufficient to cover the remaining costs anticipated for the Project; and WHEREAS, it is now necessary to enter into Amendment No. 2 with Reynolds Smith, increasing the Agreement in an amount not to exceed $500,000, from $1,000,000 to a total contract amount not to exceed $1,500,000; and WHEREAS, funds are to be allocated from the appropriate Capital Improvement Project; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. Section 2. The City Manager is authorized {1) to execute Amendment No. 2 to the Agreement with Reynolds Smith, in substantially the attached form, for the provision of Miscellaneous Civil Engineering Services, in an amount not to exceed $500,000, thereby increasing the total contract amount from $1,000,000, to an amount not to exceed $1,500,000, with funds allocated from the appropriate Capital Improvement Project. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{2} APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS' JULIE O. RU CITY ATTORNEY Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
