FILE ID: /0 —00 T'79 Date:i�101Q Requesting Department: Police Law Department Commission Meeting Date: q1&110 District Impacted: 5 Matter ID No. Type: ® Resolution ❑ Ordinance ❑ Emergency Ordinance ❑ Discussion Item ❑ Other Subject: Authorizing the Donation of Fifteen (15) Surveillance Cameras, Related Accessories and Equipment to the Miami -Dade Public Housing Authority Purpose of Item: It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution, pursuant to Section 18-82 of the Code of the City of Miami, as amended, classifying fifteen (15) surveillance cameras, related accessories and equipment, with an approximate value of less than $24,000.00, as "Category A" surplus stock to be donated to the Miami -Dade Public Housing Authority, who agrees to accept said donation and become the sole property owner, but granting full access to these cameras to the City of Miami Police Department, upon the execution of the appropriate release documents. Chief IP 2 nin City Manager- The City of Miami Police Department has fifteen (15) cameras, related accessories and equipment that are no longer operable and wishes to donate these cameras to the Miami -Dade Public Housing Authority. Pursuant to Section 18-82(a), of the Code of the City of Miami, the fifteen (15) cameras, related, accessories and equipment (as itemized on attachment A) are classified as "Category A" surplus stock, with an estimated value of less than $24,000.00. The Miami -Dade Public Housing Authority (MDPHA) has agreed to accept the donation of these fifteen (15) surveillance cameras, related accessories and equipment as the sole property owner. MDPHA has further agreed to make all the necessary repairs to the surveillance cameras to make them operable. In connection with its control and exclusive use of the property, MDPHA is wholly responsible for all future costs of its maintenance and repairs. Furthermore, MDPHA has agreed to grant the City of Miami Police Department full access to these cameras. The police department will utilize these surveillance cameras to combat the criminal element that plagues the Liberty Square HUD area, in an effort to reduce crime and improve the quality of life for residents within said area.
