A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
CLASSIFYING FIFTEEN (15) SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS, RELATED
ACCESSORIES AND EQUIPMENT, WITH AN APPROXIMATE VALUE OF LESS
THAN $24,000, AS "CATEGORY A" SURPLUS STOCK; AUTHORIZING THE
DONATION OF SAID SURPLUS STOCK TO THE MIAMI-DADE PUBLIC HOUSING
AUTHORITY, WHO HAS AGREED TO ACCEPT SAID DONATION AND BECOME
THE SOLE PROPERTY OWNER, AND WILL GRANT FULL ACCESS OF THE
CAMERAS TO THE CITY OF MIAMI POLICE DEPARTMENT; FURTHER
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DESIGNATE THE CHIEF OF POLICE
TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Police Department has fifteen (15) cameras, related accessories and
equipment that are no longer operable and wishes to donate these cameras to the Miami -Dade Public
Housing Authority ("MDPHA"); and
WHEREAS, the Chief Procurement Officer has declared said cameras as surplus stock; and
WHEREAS, Section 18-82(a), of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended ("City Code"),
entitled "Disposal of surplus city -owned personal property," states that a surplus declared as "Category
A" stock, shall be available for disposition as the City of Miami's ("City's") contribution or the City's
commitment in support of a particular public purpose, which may include those community, civic or
social service programs as may be authorized by the City Commission; and
WHEREAS, the MDPHA has agreed to accept the donation of these fifteen (15) surveillance
cameras, related accessories and equipment in which MDPHA will become the sole property owner;
and
WHEREAS, MDPHA has _agreed _to make all _the -necessary _ repairs_ to the surveillance cameras to
make them operable; and
WHEREAS, in connection with its control and exclusive use of the cameras, MDPHA is wholly
responsible for all future costs of their maintenance and repairs; and
WHEREAS, MDPHA has agreed to grant the City Miami Police Department full access of these
cameras; and
WHEREAS, the City Police Department will use these surveillance cameras to combat crime in the
Liberty Square Housing and Urban Development area; and
WHEREAS, through the use of these surveillance cameras, the City Police Department will reduce
crime which will greatly improve the quality of life for residents within the area;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. Pursuant to Section 18-82(a), of the City Code, fifteen (15) surveillance cameras,
related accessories and equipment, as itemized on "Attachment A", attached and incorporated, with an
approximate value of less than $24,000, are classified as "Category A" surplus stock.
Section 3. Said surveillance cameras are authorized to be donated to the MDPHA, upon the
execution of the appropriate release documents.
Section 4. The MDPHA has agreed to make all the necessary repairs to the cameras to make
them operable and is responsible for all future costs of their maintenance and repairs.
Section 5. The MDPHA has agreed to grant the City Police Department full access of these
cameras.
Section 6. The City Manager is authorized{1} to designate the Chief of Police to execute the
necessary documents.
Section 7. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption and signature of the
Mayor.{2}

{1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed
by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code
provisions: -
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
