Subject: Grant Acceptance from the Omni Community Redevelopment Agency for a Police Visibility

Purpose of Item:
A Resolution of the Miami City Commission authorizing the acceptance of a grant from the Omni
Redevelopment District Community Redevelopment Agency, in an amount not to exceed $500,000, to
fund the cost of a Police Visibility Program for the Omni area; authorizing the City Manager to execute
the grant agreement and all documents necessary for said purpose. No match is required.
Background Information:
The City of Miami Police Department submitted a proposal to continue the enhanced police visibility in
the Omni CRA and requested funding for the cost associated with the operation of this Police Visibility
Program. On June 28, 2010, the Board of Commissioners of the Omni passed Resolution No. 10-0052
authorizing the award of a grant, in an amount not to exceed $500,000. This Police Visibility Program
consists of enhanced police services including, increased patrols, assistance to homeless in obtaining
sery?ces from local agencies and an increase in the number of special operations. As a result,
residents will enjoy an enhanced sense of security and improved quality of life.
