A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A GRANT FROM THE SOUTHEAST
OVERTOWN/PARK WEST REDEVELOPMENT DISTRICT COMMUNITY
REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $500,000, FOR
A POLICE VISIBILITY PROGRAM FOR THE SOUTHEAST OVERTOWN/PARK
WEST AREA; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE GRANT
AGREEMENT, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, AND ALL
NECESSARY DOCUMENTS IN ORDER TO IMPLEMENT THE ACCEPTANCE OF
SAID GRANT.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") is responsible for public safety throughout, the City, which
includes the Southeast Overtown/Park West ("SEOPW") Community Redevelopment Agency ("CRA")
district; and
WHEREAS, in June, 2010, the City Department of Police submitted a proposal to continue the
enhanced police visibility in the SEOPW CRA and requested funding for the cost associated with the
operation of its Police Visibility Program; and
WHEREAS, on June 28, 2010, the Board of Commissioners of the SEOPW CRA adopted
Resolution No. 10-0052, authorizing an award of a grant, in an amount not to exceed $500,000, to the
City Department of Police to fund the costs associated with the operation of a Police Visibility Program
in the redevelopment area; and
WHEREAS, the CRA authorized the grant to be disbursed on a reimbursement basis or directly
to vendors upon presentation of invoices and satisfactory documentation; and
WHEREAS, no matching funds are required; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to accept said grant;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby
adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The acceptance of a grant in an amount not to exceed $500,000, from the SEOPW
CRA to the City for its Police Visibility Program for the SEOPW area, is authorized.
Section 3. The City Manager is authorized{1} to execute the Grant Agreement, in substantially
the attached form, and all necessary documents in order to implement the acceptance of said grant.

Section 4, This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature

Footnotes:
{1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be
imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter
and Code provisions.
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
