HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Planning AnalysisCLOSING, VACATING, ABANDONING AND DISCONTINUING FOR PUBLIC USE PORTION OF THE WEST SIDE OF NORTHWEST 1St AVENUE BETWEEN NORTHWEST 1St STREET AND NORTHWEST 8" STREET. Pursuant to Section 55-15 (c) of the Miami City Code, the Planning Department has reviewed the proposed public right-of-way vacation and closure to determine whether it is in the public interest, or whether the general public would benefit from the vacation of the right-of-way. The following findings have been made: • It is found that this application was presented to the Plat and Street Committee and the tentative plat was approved. • It is found that the roadways to be vacated are fenced and are not utilized for Wj pedestrian or traffic circulation. • It is found that NW 1st Avenue was relocated into a better alignment to provide continuous traffic flow and wide pedestrian sidewalk. • It is found that the proposed vacation comply with Section 55-15 (c) of the Miami City Code for public benefit because the previous owner paid $1.4 million dollars to the city for the relocation of NW 1St Avenue and the new alignment, roads and sidewalks provide better pedestrian and vehicular circulation. Based on these findings, the Planning Department recommends approval of the request.
