Subject: Demolition Services -Citywide
Purpose of Item:
The nature of this item is to establish a contract for Demolition Services Citywide, from the various
vendors, as listed in Attachment A attached hereto and made a part hereof, for the procurement of
demolition services citywide, pursuant to Invitation for Bid No. 204189, on an as needed contract
basis, for an initial contract period of two (2) years with the option to renew for two (2) additional
one-year periods, allocating funds from the various sources of funds from the user departments and
agencies, subject to availability of funds and budgetary approval at time of need.
and Information:
The Purchasing Department has identified a need to establish a contract for Demolition Services
Citywide, for the demolition and removal of unsafe and/or abandoned structures, to be coordinated
through. the Building Department, on an as needed basis. On May 12, 2010, the Purchasing
Department issued Invitation for Bid No. 204189. As required by the Procurement Code, the IIB was
advertised and issued on-line. Bids were due and five (5) bids were received on June 2, 2010. The
Purchasing Department is reconunending award of Group 1 to the two (2) lowest responsive and
responsible bidders (primary and secondary vendors), as per Attachment A. The total estimated
annual amount is $232,243.00.
Award of Group 2 is not being recommended as a result of the May 28, 2010 issuance of Addendum
No. 2 to IFB 204189. The addendum was issued to remove the Davis Bacon Act provision
requirement for Group 2 of the IFB. Removal of the Act eliminated the one distinguishing feature
that would have had an impact on pricing relative to Group 1. Consequently, at this time, award of
Group 2 is no longer necessary and award of Group 1 will fully satisy the City's demolition needs
citywide. However, in the near future the City may be able to exercise Section 2.15, whereby
additional items may be added to the contract when it is deemed to be in the City's best interest.
