A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE GROVE
TREE -MAN TRUST TO PERFORM TREE -TRIMMING ACTIVITIES ON TREES
LOCATED IN CITY OF MIAMI RIGHTS-OF-WAY AND IN CITY PARKS USING
RESOURCES PROVIDED BY THE STATE OF FLORIDA, DEPARTMENT OF
AGRICULTURE AND CONSUMER SERVICES, DIVISION OF FORESTRY;
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY
DOCUMENTS.
WHEREAS, trees are an important part of the community; and
WHEREAS, the Grove Tree -Man Trust, a non-profit organization located in the City of Miami
("City"), was awarded a Forest Health Improvement Initiative Grant from the Florida Department of
Agriculture and Consumer Services; and
WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services will provide monies to
the Grove Tree -Man Trust to trim City trees located on City rights-of-way and in City parks to improve
the condition of the City's tree canopy; and
WHEREAS, the Grove Tree -Man Trust will enter into a Memorandum of Agreement with the
Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services; and
WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services requires the City to
authorize the Grove Tree -Man Trust to conduct tree -trimming activities on City property; and
WHEREAS, no City funds are required to be provided;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The Miami City Commission authorizes the Grove Tree -Man Trust to perform
tree -trimming activities on trees located in the City rights-of-way and in City parks using resources
provided by the State of Florida, Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of
Forestry.
Section 3. The City Manager is authorized {1} to execute the necessary documents to support said
grant award.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.{2}

{1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed
by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code
provisions.
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
