A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ESTABLISHING A NEW
SPECIAL REVENUE PROJECT ENTITLED: "ASSISTANCE TO FIREFIGHTERS
GRANT PROGRAM FISCAL YEAR 2009," CONSISTING OF A GRANT AWARDED
BY THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY, UNITED STATES
DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY, GRANTS MANAGEMENT BRANCH,
IN THE AMOUNT OF $406,464, WITH A REQUIRED MATCHING FUND FROM
THE CITY OF MIAMI ("CITY"), IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $101,616, FOR
A TOTAL AMOUNT OF $508,080, TO PURCHASE PERSONNEL PROTECTIVE
EQUIPMENT AND FOUR (4) EMERGENCY GENERATORS TO SAFELY AND
EFFECTIVELY MANAGE FIRE -RELATED EMERGENCIES, AS WELL AS
WEATHER- RELATED EMERGENCIES, FOR THE PERIOD BEGINNING APRIL
16, 2010 THROUGH APRIL 15,2011; ALLOCATING THE CITY'S REQUIRED
MATCHING FUNDS, FROM ACCOUNT NO. 00001.181000.891000.0000.00000;
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY
DOCUMENTS IN ORDER TO IMPLEMENT THE ACCEPTANCE AND
COMPLIANCE OF SAID GRANT.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has been awarded a grant, in the amount of $406,464, for
the period beginning April 16, 2010 through April 15, 2011, from the Federal Emergency Management
Agency, United States Department of Homeland Security, Grants Management Branch; and
WHEREAS, matching funds from the City, in the amount of $101,616, are required as a condition
of said grant, and are available from the City's Project No 00001.181000.891000.0000.00000; and
WHEREAS, as stipulated in the grant award, the Department of Fire -Rescue will use said funds to
purchase personnel protective equipment and four (4) emergency generators in its effort to continue to
excel in life safety; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate for the City Commission to authorize the City Manager to execute any
necessary documents in order to implement the acceptance and compliance of said grant and to
appropriate same;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The following new special revenue project is established and resources are
appropriated as described below:

APPROPRIATIONS: $ 508,080
Section 3. This appropriation is contingent upon final grant approval by the Federal
Emergency Management Agency, the United States Department of Homeland Security, and the City
Manager's acceptance thereof.
Section 4. The City Manager is authorized {1} to execute the necessary documents, in order to
implement the acceptance and compliance of said grant.
Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and
signature of the Mayor.{2}

Footnotes:
{1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be
imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter
and Code provisions.
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
