HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-10-0178Vop City of Miami F .. , 'Ir* Legislation i 0 R �O Resolution: R-10-0178 File Number: 10-00430 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com Final Action Date: 5/13/2010 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION EXPANDING THE INTENT OF RESOLUTION NO. 09-0247, ADOPTED MAY 28, 2009, THAT APPROPRIATED FUNDS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $14,200, TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION THROUGH ITS PROGRAM FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES, WHICH FACILITATED THE HIRING OF A PROJECT SEARCH STUDENT TO BE EMPLOYED IN THE CLASSIFICATION OF WORKER TRAINEE, TO ALLOW FOR THE HIRING OF SEVERAL PROJECT SEARCH STUDENTS TO BE EMPLOYED IN THE CLASSIFICATION OF WORKER TRAINEE, UNTIL THE FUNDS APPROPRIATED PURSUANT TO SAID RESOLUTION ARE EXHAUSTED. WHEREAS, on May 28,2009, the Miami City Commission adopted Resolution No. 09-0247 establishing a new award to fund Project 29-115025, under the Special Revenue Project entitled: "Project SEARCH Miami"; and WHEREAS, funds in the amount of $14,200 were contributed by Charlie DeLucca for the purpose of employing one Project SEARCH student within the City of Miami under the classification of worker trainee; and WHEREAS, Resolution No. 09-0247 specified a one (1) year period of employment during the 2009-2010 school year; and WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation desires to have the ability to utilize said funds for the benefit of more than one person for as much time as funds allow, thereby providing for employment opportunities to several qualified Project SEARCH students; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The intent of Resolution No. 09-0247, adopted May 28, 2009, that appropriated funds, in the amount of $14,200, to be administered by the Department of Parks and Recreation through its Program for Persons with Disabilities, which facilitated the hiring of a Project SEARCH student to be employed in the classification of worker trainee, is expanded to allow for the hiring of several Project SEARCH students, until the funds appropriated pursuant to said Resolution are exhausted. Section 3. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
