A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
ACCEPT A GRANT, IN THE AMOUNT OF $327,775, FROM THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY SAFE
NEIGHBORHOOD PARKS BOND PROGRAM FOR THE ACQUISITION OF LAND LOCATED AT
1814 BRICKELL AVENUE, MIAMI, FLORIDA; AUTHORIZING THE ALLOCATION OF
REQUIRED MATCHING FUNDS FROM NON -GENERAL FUND MONIES IN AN AMOUNT NOT
TO EXCEED $2,260,000 FOR THE PURCHASE OF 1814 BRICKELL AVENUE; FURTHER
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS TO
IMPLEMENT THE ACCEPTANCE OF SAID GRANT AWARD, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO
THE CITY ATTORNEY.
WHEREAS, it is necessary to improve the quality of life, to benefit property values, to promote prevention of juvenile
crime by providing positive recreation opportunities, and to improve the recreation facilities for youth, adults, and senior
citizens in this community through the improvement of our parks and natural areas; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has been awarded a grant, in the amount of $327,775 ("Grant"), from the Safe
Neighborhood Parks Bond Program, for the funding of the acquisition of needed park space at 1814 Brickell Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the City recognizes the lack of green space in a high-density residential area and desires to better provide
residents access to open space; and
WHEREAS, this project is congruent with the Miami 21 Parks and Public Space Master Plan; and
WHEREAS, match funding will be provided through non -general fund monies; and
WHEREAS, the City must execute a contract with Miami -Dade County to accept the Grant;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble of this Resolution are adoptedby reference and
incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The City Manager is authorized{ t } to accept a Grant, in the amount of $327,775, from the Miami -Dade County
Safe Neighborhood Parks Bond Program, to purchase the land located at 1814 Brickell Avenue, Miami, Florida for our
residents.
